LASIK and SMILE
What is LASIK?
LASIK (Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) can permanently correct myopia, far-sightedness and/or astigmatism by changing the curvature of the central cornea. LASIK involves using femtosecond laser to cut a thin cap in the cornea. The cap is then lifted and Excimer Laser is used to reshapes the corneal bed. The thin cap is then repositioned and the patient begins to see within the same day.
What is SMILE?
SMILE (SMall Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a newer myopia correction technology that is safer and less invasive than traditional LASIK. With the Carl Zeiss VisuMax laser system, the principle is to create a diaphragm of corneal tissue with a femtosecond laser scan without opening the flap, and then remove the diaphragm through a small incision of 2 to 4 mm to achieve vision correction. This technology can correct myopia and astigmatism and reduce the dependence on glasses.
What is SMILE pro?
The principle is the same as that of SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction). SMILE pro, with a high frequency of 2 MHz, effectively shortens the time of laser correction to 10 seconds per eye, which is suitable for nervous patients with sensitive eyes. The upgraded SMILE pro is also equipped with Astigmatism Axis Assisted Navigation and Visual Axis Assisted Navigation function, which improves the efficiency and safety of vision correction by reducing potential risks.
THE NEWEST TECHOLOGY
Our newest laser machine includes:
The SCHWIND AMARIS 750S very high speed with extremely high precision, it takes just 1.5 second to correct -1.00D of myopia, patients only need to focus on the fixation light for a shorter time, relieving their stress in result is maximum surgical comfort. With 1,050 measurements per second, the six dimensional active eye tracker monitors, the exact position of the eye, and whilst doing so compensates for every tiny deviation, patients feel more secure during surgery.
Carl Zeiss VisuMax® surgical system from Germany is a laser surgical device that can perform both half-femtosecond laser flap making and full femtosecond lens extraction. Its unique RELEX SMILE (small incision corneal intrastromal lenticule extraction) produces a revolutionary surgical method - full femtosecond laser surgery.
The SMILE PRO uses the new generation of ZEISS femtosecond laser machine Visumax 800, which has a faster laser frequency and a smaller machine size compared to the previous generation Visumax 500.
Efficient treatment with fast pulse repetition minimizes the effects of dehydration of the cornea as well as environmental influences during surgery. In order to further optimize the refractive procedure itself, the repetition rate has been increased to 400 Hz in Allegretto Wave Eye-Q. This allows the physician to perform a 6-diotper short-sightedness correction on a fully corrected optical zone of 6.5 mm within 15 seconds.
